Be wary of firms that advertise about getting you out of large IRS debts for pennies on the dollar. I am sure that you have seen many firms on TV, such as Roni Deutch , Tax Masters, J.K. Harris and others advertising that they can get you out of your IRS debts for pennies on the dollar. WAIT, take a deep breath , and read this
When P.T. Barnum said, “There is a sucker born every minute,” he was wrong. The suckers seem to be born every second! Firms like these charge high fees and promise to get rid of your IRS debts for pennies on the dollar. Interestingly, it is possible to do this with an “Offer and Compromise;” however, it is much harder than it would seem. You literally must have no assets that IRS can seize and have relatively little income. However these firms make it seem that everyone can do this. Moreover, they charge between $1600 and $5000 for this service that doesn’t work for most people
Some of these firms are being sued or investigated by the applicable attorney general for fraud! If you have a serious IRS problem, go to a reputable tax attorney. If you can’t find one, just private message me, and I will give you the name of one or two who are competent and know about this area. Before doing business with any firm or buying any big ticket product, always check out the name of the company who provides these items on the internet. See what people say about it. Always check out the Better Business Bureau for complaints. Forewarned is forearmed. I don’t want my friends to be suckered
